I am breathing a big sigh here because Ruger has met my expectations. Ruger rescued Marlin from bankruptcy and disappearance. The brand has easily reincarnated Marlin as a gun maker of the 21st century, and the 1895 SBL is the perfect example.

The New Marlins aren’t just pretty faces. They run nicely as well. I've put different .45-70 loads through them, whether from Remington, Hornady, Barnes, Federal, or Winchester. The gun cycles all of them with no issues at all.

This is my first time handling a lever action, specifically the Marlin 1895 SBL, and man does this rifle seem well built. I'm partial to the polished finish and the picatinny rail which I plan to equip with a scope eventually. The Marlin 1895 SBL was shipped quickly without any issues.
